Charities and not-for-profits must by their nature run a lean organization to keep fees low and costs down. With legacy applications and systems fast becoming a liability for Charities Trust, the need for increased efficiency became number one priority. Roboyo was brought in to offer a technological solution which resulted in a 20x faster product development process, positively impacting turnover and without impacting headcount.
Our client: Charities Trust, a leading donations management organization, has been committed to growing charitable giving since 1987. They help businesses raise millions of pounds for good causes easily, safely and tax effectively by offering a wide range of services.
“The biggest challenge for us was getting started. Having Roboyo with us from the beginning was a huge help. They helped us unlock the power of the Appian platform and enabled us to realize its full potential as a tool for extraordinary change.”
Linda Minnis, Chief Executive, Charities Trust.
Using low-code technology, Roboyo was able to considerably speed up the development process by up to 20x.
Charities Trust saw a significantly increased turnover without increasing headcount because of Roboyo’s intelligent automation solution.
Streamlined onboarding, relationship management and payment processing for Charities Trust registered charities.
Charities Trust services previously relied on legacy systems and inflexible applications, which made improvements and cost management more and more difficult, as well as the maintenance of relationships with other charities and corporations.
This left Charities Trust with three options – hire a large development team at cost to do the work in-house, buy generic software off the shelf and spend time and money tailoring it to their needs or invite an experienced provider to assess their requirements and design a bespoke solution which met their strategic objectives.
They chose the third option to gain the best talent, the best experience and the best solutions.
As with all charities, investments in technology must be carefully assessed against the savings and efficiencies they need to drive. After working closely with the Charities Trust team, it soon became clear that low-code was the way forward to achieve results quickly and cost-effectively.
The Appian platform known for its unparalleled out-of-the-box functionality and its ability to speed up the development process by up to 20x was chosen to provide the technology required to fulfil the brief.
The first application developed by Roboyo, the Charity Portal, was designed to streamline onboarding, relationship management and payment processing for the organization’s registered charities. We learnt that users worked on both web and mobile devices, and therefore the Charity Portal needed to unite users, data, and processes in simple interfaces that accelerate decision-making and action.
The Charity Portal has streamlined and strengthened Charities Trust relationships with their associated charities and corporations and is continuously improved upon to maximize efficiency. While improving visibility and responsiveness for the charities, it also provides centralized, auditable, and sustainable processes.
The adoption of Roboyo’s low-code solution, the power of the Appian platform and the support provided by Roboyo has allowed Charities Trust to significantly increase turnover without increasing headcount.
The solution gave Charities Trust the flexibility and platform needed to improve on existing services core to their business model and liberate a core business application from legacy systems and application architectures.
Charities Trust is now in the process of migrating other core business areas away from legacy systems to the fast, flexible ecosystem that the Roboyo and Appian platform provides.
By choosing Roboyo, Charities Trust were able to take full advantage of Roboyo’s consulting and implementation expertise and gain the reassurance they needed to trust the process and have confidence in the technological solution. Want to do the same?
